TACSEI Backpack Connection Series

The Backpack Connection Series features 25 downloadable handouts on how parents and early childhood professionals can “work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.” The handouts provide a wide variety of tools and strategies for caregivers across four main categories: Addressing Behavior, Emotions, Routines and Schedules, and Social Skills.   •  Core Knowledge (CK):
    • CK2: The role of primary social and emotional relationships as the foundation for early learning.
    • CK5: The importance of play as context, method and outcome of learning.
  • Individualized Family Service Plan Development and Review (IFSP-DR):
    • IFSP-DR2 (EIA): Is aware of the importance of parents as team members in the IFSP process.
    • IFSP-DR5 (EIA): Has basic knowledge of intervention strategies used in everyday routines, relationships, activities, places and partnerships.
  • Individualized Family Service Plan Implementation (IFSP-i)
    • IFSP-i3 (EIA): Is familiar with generic and specific evidence-based early intervention strategies to support all areas of development.
