Early Start Partners Symposium

The Early Start Partners Symposium (ESPS) is a comprehensive, face-to-face professional development and networking opportunity for the entire Early Start community.

General and breakout sessions are designed to be intensive and interactive, using facilitated training and discussion processes to deliver content that goes beyond foundational knowledge and strategies to address topics of critical interest to both new and seasoned Early Start personnel. Participants from multiple disciplines have the opportunity to access a higher level of research and practice, engage in cross-agency training, and take part in collegial discussions.

ESPS 2024 has concluded!

Several breakout sessions were recorded and may be watched at Early Start Online. Recorded sessions include:

  • Considering the Family Constellation: Early Start families come in all shapes and sizes. This session covered considerations for working effectively within different family structures. Presenters (Ross Adams and Patty Balagtas) offered applicable strategies for supporting the different constellations of families in your universe!
  • Best Practices for Parent Training and Coaching: In this session, participants will learn how coaching practices may be used effectively in early intervention. Presenters (Danielle Wells and Mary Rettinhouse) will describe different coaching models and recommend resources to understand and build coaching skills for Early Start professionals.
  • Collaborative Care for NICU Families: Strengthening Care for Better Outcomes: Parents of babies admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience acute stressors that have lasting impact. These presenters (Ereida Galda, Liz Spencer, and Autumn Only A Chief) offer outreach and support strategies, resources available to support families in the NICU and after discharge, and suggestions for professionals to preserve their own wellness as they accompany families on their NICU journeys.

Watch for news about ESPS 2025 in the coming months.
