Joint Policy Statement on Children Who Are Homeless

In 2016, the US Departments of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Education published a joint policy statement entitled Policy Statement on Meeting the Needs of Families with Young Children Experiencing and At Risk of Homelessness. This statement provides recommendations to policymakers and providers at the local and State level on how to serve children and families who are homeless.

According to KidsData.org, in 2014, over 29,800 children birth through kindergarten in California were experiencing homelessness. For more information on Homeless Education in California, please visit the California Department of Education’s website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/hs/.
