The Grand Connector: Grandparent Resources

An elderly woman with short hair and glasses leans back against a light blue sofa, holding a brown-haired baby while kissing the baby’s cheek.Zero to Three has a great collection of resources, entitled The Grand Connector, focusing on all things “grandparent.” The site includes tips for families on sharing the care of grandchildren, identifying challenging behavior, and honoring family traditions. For professionals, the collection contains the results of a 2019 grandparenting survey and a literature review on “Grandparents Who Care.” In addition, there are links to two free workshops, “Grandfamilies 101” and “Grand Connections.” Grandparents may be involved in the rearing of their grandkids remotely or up close and personal. Some grandparents even take on the role of parent when the child’s parents aren’t able to be in the picture. Families come in all shapes and sizes. The Grand Connector provides tremendous resources for this little niche of early intervention. Take advantage of it and share it with your parenting grandparents.

The ICC-Recommended Early Start Personnel Manual (ESPM) describes core knowledge and role-specific competencies needed for early intervention service provision, incorporating current research and evidence in the field of early intervention. To access the ESPM, click here.
