This resource is related to the following ESPM knowledge-level competencies:
- Core Knowledge (CK):
- CK 1: The dynamics of family systems including cultural, linguistic and socio-economic factors influencing family function and care for all children.
- Identification and Referral (IR)
- IR 4: Knows resource options for services and supports (other than Early Start) in the country/area of residence.
- Evaluation and Assessment (EA):
- EA 4: Knows strategies that support parents/caregivers in identifying and articulating their concerns about their infant/toddler’s development and needs.
- Individualized Family Service Plan Development and Review (IFSP-DR):
- IFSP-DR 2: Understands the concept of mentoring and its importance with parents and other IFSP team members.
- IFSP-DR 3: Knows community agencies and resources such as primary health care, infant/family mental health, social services and parent-parent support groups.
- Individualized Family Service Plan Development and Review (IFSP-i):
- IFSP-i 8: Understands the parallel process and how coaching as an intervention strategy promotes parent confidence and competence in meeting the child’s needs.
- IFSP-i 10: Knows strategies that support parents in providing basic health, nutrition, and safety for infants and toddlers in natural environments.
- IFSP-i 11: Knows strategies that support parents in adapting the natural environment to meet infant/toddler developmental needs.
