The Early Childhood Technical Assistance (ECTA) Center hosts a wealth of resources, including a collection of “Practitioner Guides” and “Practice Checklists.” Today, we’re featuring two focused on authentic assessment, including tips on how to do it and ways to check if it’s working. The “Practitioner Guide” also contains a link to a video about the practice produced by North Carolina’s Puckett Institute. The “Practice Checklist” offers seven key characteristics that can be rated as “seldom or never used,” “used some of the time,” “used often,” or “used most of the time” to support practitioners in reflecting on their work and taking steps to course correct as needed.
The ICC-Recommended Early Start Personnel Manual (ESPM) describes core knowledge and role-specific competencies needed for early intervention service provision, incorporating current research and evidence in the field of early intervention.
