Getting Moving: Movement Milestones (Hay un bebé en movimiento) is a wonderful resource provided by the folks at Zero to Three. Through the succession of important motor development stages (e.g., rolling over, crawling, pulling up/cruising, walking), the authors describe what each looks like, when it’s most likely to take place, and tips for baby-proofing the environment to keep the little one safe. They also include advice on tummy time and cautions about walkers and baby seats/carriers through links to more detailed articles on each topic. You can link to CDC videos of cruising and walking as well if you want to see babies in action (and who doesn’t?). That might be an easy way to introduce families to CDC’s Milestones and Video Library (also in both English and Spanish) so they can peek at skills their children will soon acquire. Check it out!
