“Welcome to Early Start” Brochure

WarmLine Family Resource Center has developed a “Welcome to Early Start” brochure for families of children birth to three with developmental delays or disabilities. This handy guide helps orient parents to the basics of the Early Start early intervention system, including the role of the family resource center, the purpose of early intervention services, an overview of the IFSP document and process, and some ways that parents can prepare for IFSP meetings and support their child’s development in the context of everyday routines and environments.

The ICC-Recommended Early  Early Start Personnel Manual (ESPM) describes core knowledge and role-specific competencies needed for early intervention service provision, incorporating current research and evidence in the field of early intervention. To access the ESPM, CLICK HERE.

 

This resource is related to the following ESPM knowledge-level competencies:

 

  • Core Knowledge (CK):
    • CK2: The role of primary social and emotional relationships as the foundation for early learning.
  • Identification and Referral (IR):
    • IR4 (EIA): Knows resource options for services and supports (other than Early Start) in the country/area of residence.
  • Individualized Family Service Plan Development and Review (IFSP-DR):
    • IFSP-DR3 (EIA): Knows community agencies and resources such as primary health care, infant/family mental health, social services and parent-parent support groups.
